Copernican Procession

On 9 September between 5.00 and 7.00 p.m., a colourful nad festive procession of actors and other performers will march through the streets of Kraków. Dancing, music and acrobatic feats will liven up the celebrations of the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus as well as the act of inscribing the Kraków Old Town on the list of UNESCO Heritage Sites.

The procession will march from St. Florian's Gate to the Main Square and the historic Town Hall Tower.

The programme of the event will feature:

  • a parade led by stilt-walking acrobats,
  • theatrical performances and improvisations with themes related to Kraków in the 14th and 15th century,
  • performances by artists dressed in garments from the times of Nicolaus Copernicus.

The event will be attended by about 150 performers: actors, dancers, musicians and stilt-walkers, with a special appearance by the French master acrobats Compagnie Tac O Tac.
