Nicolaus Copernicus was born in 1473 in Toruń. He died in 1534 in Frombork. Aside from astronomy, his professional interests included medicine, law, economy and administrative work.

The idea behind the World Copernican Congress

The Congress, marking the 550th anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus’ birthday, will provide an opportunity to discuss the life and work of the great astronomer as well as his impact on the development of science. The event is co-organised by the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Jagiellonian University in Kraków and Polish Academy of Science Institute of the History of Science.

World Copernican Congress: visual identity

The World Copernican Congress marking the 550th anniversary of Nicolaus Copernicus birthday already has a logo and visual identity. Its main theme is the interaction between light and shadow. The chosen project was prepared by dobosz.studio, a Poznań-based design team. The logo will be featured on all written and visual materials related to the Congress.
